The District
The Freeport School District is a network of 8 schools and serves as a vibrant hub of learning nestled within the heart of Freeport. We serve a diverse population of approximately 7,100 students and seek an outstanding instructional leader with demonstrated ability in planning, implementing, developing, directing, and evaluating functions and activities in various areas including: curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development and instructional programs, providing administrative and technical support to the Superintendent, and implementing goals of the Board of Education. Compensation & Position Details:
After a canvass of the opinions, reflections and suggestions of the Village of Freeport community, the Board of Education has constructed the profile of an individual they seek to fill the position of superintendent of schools. The Freeport Board of Education is seeking a progressive, charismatic executive leader. Job description available upon request.
Salary Range | $192,000 – 250,000 Commensurate with experience, per the Freeport Administrators Association collective bargaining agreement. Competitive Nassau County compensation package. |

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:
ü Valid New York State administrative certification (SDL or SDA)
ü Master’s degree or higher in education, educational leadership, or a closely related field
ü Minimum of five (5) years of K-12 classroom teaching experience
ü Minimum of four (4) years of building-level administrative experience at the K-12 level (principal)
ü Demonstrated, measurable success improving student outcomes at the K-12 level
ü Experience working with diverse student populations, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities
ü Deep knowledge of NYS standards, assessments, and K-12 graduation requirements
The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate:
· A proven track record as a collaborative leader who can build a shared vision by working cooperatively with the school board, colleagues, and the school community
· Proficiency in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of instructional personnel
· Ability to recommend the addition of new courses, selection of textbooks, grade placement of courses, and credit allowance for courses
· Competency for reviewing and evaluating results of district-wide testing and curriculum programs, and for other evaluative measures used by the schools
· Competency in managing the district’s professional development program and budget
· Ability to write and implement grants and sound fiscal practices
· Ability to advise school officials on implementation of state and federal programs and procedures, especially those related to accountability and reporting
· Ability to collaborate with Superintendent and district stakeholders to transform the strategic plan into a district level action plan with specific goals and objectives
· Strong skills and knowledge in the supervision and evaluation of staff
· A strategic problem-solving outlook on issues unique to Freeport Public Schools
· Excellent multi-tasking, delegation, interpersonal, and communication skills
· Current knowledge, use, and application of NY data systems, New York State Learning Standards, Student Learning Objectives (SLOs), RTI and APPR, and experience in Assessment Data Analysis and Professional Development
· Strong skills to work with union leadership to encourage a joint vision for all members and employees
· Cultural competency and a proven commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming school environment where all students and staff feel valued and supported
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are not required but will strengthen a candidate’s application:
• Doctoral degree in education or educational leadership
• Experience in building-level leadership in a comparable context to Freeport Public Schools.
• Familiarity with Infinite Campus or a comparable Student Information System
• Experience leading school improvement or turnaround initiatives with documented outcomes
• Prior teaching experience in a demographically comparable urban or suburban school district
• Teaching or administrative experience in a NYS public school district
